Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of the straight walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be recommended as cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
