Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw is recommended since cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
