Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw is recommended since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
