Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a power miter saw can be recommended as the cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks will serve as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
