Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for used for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw is recommended since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
