Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is recommended since cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
