Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred as the cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes with a paint primer, but should you opt for bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it as you proceed. Begin from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might periodically arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
