Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred as cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
