Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred as cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but if you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
