Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is recommended since cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood then let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you proceed. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
