Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover each short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is recommended since the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Commence from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces may periodically arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet the wall and ceiling.
