Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a power miter saw can be preferred since the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a paint primer, but should you opt for bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then let it dry for at least an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
