Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked for cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw can be recommended since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a reference when joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are these walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape along the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
