Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, you might need one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be preferred since the cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes with a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks will serve as a point of reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Commence from the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
