Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to trim each short wall, and two 8-foot sections for each long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred as the cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it as you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically arise along the molding and the walls and ceiling, as infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape along the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
