Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every short wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. room with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a powered miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, you should use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before installing the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, you can seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
