Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover each lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for each large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw is preferred as cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, you should apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Recruit an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Begin from the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might periodically appear between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings absolutely even. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
