Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. To illustrate, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room with a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, using a powered miter saw can be preferred since cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, most trim is already equipped featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to cure for no less than an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These labels will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding on the wall, invert it ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it while you proceed. Begin at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise between the molding and both the walls and ceiling, as rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect both the wall and ceiling.
