Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the total length of the straight walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter saw can be used for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred as the cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to apply a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to dry for at least an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to aid you in positioning the molding onto a second ladder and managing it while you start. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may sometimes appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely flat. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners can also be rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
