Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in the area. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has two 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and marked for cutting. While a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you opt for unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a reference while joining the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk along them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, put painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
