Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of the straight walls in your space. For instance, it may require one 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and a pair of 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: For the first step, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. Even though a manual miter box and saw can be employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred as cuts tend to be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a primer coat of paint, but should you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood then allow it to cure for no less than an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a point of reference while nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding to the wall, turn it over so that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to help you in aligning the molding on a second ladder and controlling it as you proceed. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, put painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
