Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the total length of all the linear walls in your space. To illustrate, you might need a single 12-foot strip of crown molding to trim every short wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 square foot room that has a couple of 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter saw is used for employed for miter-cutting crown molding, preferring a power miter saw is preferred since cuts will be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, most trim already comes featuring a paint primer, but should you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it dry for at least an hour before installing it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks a few inches below the wall/ceiling connection. These labels will serve as a reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding installing the crown molding on the wall, turn it over so that it is upright. Enlist an assistant to help you in positioning the molding on a second ladder and managing it while you start. Begin at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps might sometimes arise along the molding and both the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly flat. To address these spaces, it's possible to seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at the mitered corners are also filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't already applied paint to them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings at the points where they meet both the wall and ceiling.
