Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Measure the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, it may require a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every long wall, especially in a 165 sq. ft. area that has two 15-foot walls and another two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece must be measured and marked before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for used for miter-cutting crown molding, using a power miter saw can be recommended since cuts will be more exact.
Clean up the Wood: Usually, the majority of molding is already equipped with a primer coat of paint, but if you happen to be using bare wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and allow it to dry for no less than an hour before attaching it to the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Employ a stud finder and a pencil to locate and label each wall stud on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the wall/ceiling connection. These marks act as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Before attaching the crown molding on the wall, turn it over ensuring that it is in an upright position. Recruit an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it while you start. Commence at the center of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps may periodically appear along the molding and the walls and ceiling, because infrequently are these walls and ceilings absolutely even. To resolve these spaces, you can seal them by applying a bead of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any remaining gaps at the mitered corners can also be filled with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the top and bottom edges of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
