Our Installation Process
Size the Space: Determine the entire measurement of all the linear walls in your space. For instance, you might need a single 12-foot section of crown molding to cover every lesser wall, and two 8-foot sections for every large wall, especially in a 165 square foot area with a couple of 15-foot walls and two 11-foot walls.
Crown molding should be cut: To begin the process, the crown molding piece needs to be measured and indicated before cutting. While a manual miter box and saw is used for employed for making miter cuts on crown molding, preferring a powered miter saw can be recommended as cuts tend to be more precise.
Clean up the Wood: In many cases, the majority of molding already comes featuring a paint primer, but if you happen to be using unpainted raw wood molding, it's advisable to use a coat of primer to the wood and let it cure for at least an hour before attaching it onto the wall.
Locate and mark the wall studs: Use a stud finder and a pencil to identify and mark the wall studs on the wall surface, positioning the marks several inches beneath the junction of the wall and ceiling. These marks act as a point of reference when nailing the crown molding pieces together.
Fit the crown molding in place: Preceding attaching the crown molding to the wall, invert it ensuring that it is in an upright position. Enlist an assistant to aid you in aligning the molding onto a second ladder and controlling it as you start. Commence at the middle of the wall.
Caulk Holes: Gaps and spaces might sometimes arise between the molding and the walls and ceiling, because rarely are the walls and ceilings perfectly even. To address these spaces, you can fill them up by using a line of flexible, paintable caulk over them. Any leftover gaps at those mitered corners are also rectified with caulk.
Painting the Molding: If you haven't yet painted them, attach painter's tape at the upper and lower sections of the moldings where they intersect the wall and ceiling.
